My practice combines the convincing aspects of a photo with the illusionary ability of painting to create a dreamy scenario or a strong focus of an energy. My work replicates the feelings and thoughts I acquire from my surroundings.
There is an underlying energy in our environment; the people we interact with, the objects we possess, and the places we reside. There are stories to everything, some we know and others we can only imagine based off the energies we feel. There is an Unknown in our life which intrigues me every day. This is what I think about to create my work.
My pursuit to take photos is in a painterly light. The thought process I have while painting is the same as while creating photos. Through composition, balance, and framing I can think about my photos as paintings and my paintings as photos. In this process, I am able to understand what attracts me to my subject and how to focus on it enough to have others notice it too.
